Four-compound methionine-inositol-choline formulation. Studied for hepatic fat mobilization and metabolic support.
Origin
The 4X MIC Blend combines Methionine (15mg), Choline Chloride (50mg), Carnitine (50mg), and Dexpanthenol (5mg). MIC (Methionine-Inositol-Choline) formulations derive from the classical lipotropic research by Best, Channon, and colleagues who identified these compounds as essential for hepatic lipid transport in the 1930s-40s.
Research Lineage
MIC-based formulations have been used in clinical and research settings for decades. The three classical lipotropics — methionine, inositol, and choline — are well-characterized in hepatic lipid metabolism. This formulation substitutes inositol with carnitine for mitochondrial fatty acid transport and adds dexpanthenol (provitamin B5) as a pantothenic acid/CoA precursor.
Mechanism of Action
Methionine provides methyl groups via the SAM cycle for phosphatidylcholine synthesis. Choline chloride is a direct phosphatidylcholine precursor essential for VLDL particle assembly and hepatic fat export. Carnitine mediates long-chain fatty acid transport across the inner mitochondrial membrane via the carnitine palmitoyltransferase system. Dexpanthenol is converted to pantothenic acid, the precursor of coenzyme A required for fatty acid beta-oxidation.
Components
Methionine (15mg) / Choline Chloride (50mg) / Carnitine (50mg) / Dexpanthenol (5mg)
